Brain pulp

I should be sleeping, as there’s a long drive ahead of me in a few hours. But I’ve got some serious insomnia. Stupidly, I’ve been reviewing what’s happened in my life this past year, and quite frankly, it was my annus horribilis. No wonder I can’t sleep.

Eh. It is what it is.
I did distract myself for a while, and mucked about with the new website theme. At least the nerd part of my brain is functioning correctly. The other part, however, wants to leap out of my skull.

I’ve made a few of enhancements to the theme:

  • Selective enabling of drop shadows based on which web browser the visitor (i.e. you) is using to view this site. Only Netscape (including derivatives such as Firefox and Safari) and Internet Explorer are supported, and only “modern” versions. Older versions of these browsers just won’t see the shadows, so it should be a “graceful degradation” for ancient browsers.
  • Problem pages for drop shadows, such as blog archives, are detected and shadows are disabled for those pages.
  • The full image view of a photo gallery has a much nicer (in my opinion) background and navigation.
  • Added banner variations for Nic’s site at hackphotography.com so he can select them with a mouse click.

I hope you like the changes.

Oh, and once again, Merry Christmas.
